This week I am attending the Arkansas Technology Institute hosted by AETN on the University of Central Arkansas campus. Going into this week I really didn't know what to expect. Boy am I glad that I went!!!!
This week I have really learned how to effectively create powerpoints as well as web pages using Microsoft Frontpage. I have gained access to a lot of free resources, such as downloads of various programs including "audacity" which is a program for "ripping" music.
I am partnered in a wonderful group this week and for our "project" we are trying to create a useful resource for teachers who are teaching about famous people from Arkansas. Today I video taped an interview with Chuck Dovish and then "captured" the video in selected segments with the "Premiere" editing program. I also used "Audacity" to rip various songs down into segments that are less than 30 seconds long to avoid copyright issues.
I am so excited about the programs that I am learning to use!! I am also very hopeful that everything continues to flow well on our "project" to allow for us to place a very valuable resource for lower elementary teachers (yes that includes Kindergarten) on the web!

Wow! Perfect timing with a workshop that must be great help with your current class.
Congrats on the free stuff. I really get irritated at how an Internet search can lead to so many "free" offers. Most of them turn out to be a free trial that is only available with a person's credit card info.
Sounds like you have learned a lot! I can't wait to see how we can implement what you learned in our classrooms!
That sounds like a lot of fun. You might be one of the "experts" that the rest of us come to with questions.
Wow! What an amazing week. You will be the "technology queen" by the end of the summer. There's so much out there to learn, though. You can't ever learn enough.
Congrats on attending a very informative and useful workshop. Sometimes it seems as if we spend time at workshops to only come away with the same information gained from somewhere else.
I would love to know more about the adacity program and how to use it within the classroom setting. Can you image how motivated students will be to here a clip on one of the current songs as a springboard into a lesson??
Sounds like you've learned a lot. It's a good feeling when time in a workshop is time well spent.
What a cool week. I can't wait to see the Famous Arkansans video.
Sounds GREAT and very useful. It is nice to attend workshop that you feel will be helpful in the classroom. Looking forward to the Famous Arkansans video.
Hey, I am familiar with most of those technologies, and good job! I will be asking you for help! ;)
